A construction worker fell to his death on Monday while working at a site within the World Equestrian Center in Ocala.

On Monday, November 18, Marion County Fire Rescue units responded to the center (8505 NW 17th Lane) at about 11:25 a.m. after receiving reports of an unconscious patient “secondary to a fall.”

Paramedics made contact with the man at 11:27 a.m. and immediately transported him to a local trauma hospital, where he arrived at 11:47 a.m.

According to a coworker, the man fell off scaffolding while he was working within one of the construction sites at the facility.

It is unclear where on the property the accident took place.

No further details about the incident, including the identity of the man, have been publicly released.

The World Equestrian Center has been under constant development since it opened in 2021. The facility opened The Riding Academy Hotel earlier this year and last month, WEC provided an update on the construction of its new Event Center and shopping complex. In addition to the new hotel, over the Summer, UF Health World Equestrian Center opened a new facility at WEC.
