Rev. James David Toler, 82, of Ocala, Florida passed away on November 14, 2024, in his home with family by his side.

Dave was born in Leesburg, Florida to Rassie and Oleta Toler on September 29, 1942. He attended Leesburg High School through 10th grade and graduated from Hampton Dubose Academy in 1962. He attended Moody Bible Institute and earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in theology from Gulf Coast Seminary. Dave was a true man of God. He was the best example for us to follow as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He never met a stranger. His laugh was infectious, and his hugs were heartwarming. He went out of his way to help those in need. If you knew him, you knew you were loved. The world is a better place because David Toler was in it!

Dave had a wonderful childhood growing up in Leesburg with a love for friends, sports, and his church. He began his ministry at the age of 16 and continued to serve the Lord as a missionary, evangelist, Bible teacher, and pastor until November 2024. Many people around the world have been touched by his love for the Lord. He has been able to preach to thousands throughout the United States and various countries including Mexico, South Africa, Jamaica, and Haiti.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Ocala. They were married for 54 years and shared their lives with a total of 9 children: Stephen, Virginia, Barbara, Michael, Kimberly, Natalie, Ryan, Jessica and Jennifer, 20 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Their passion for serving was evident in helping establish a children’s home in Mexico and creating a safe- haven for 65-plus children through the Foster Care Program in Lake and Marion counties.

The memorial service will be held at Meadowbrook Church on December 7, 2024, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Tim Gilligan officiating.
