A 58-year-old woman was killed on Sunday after her motorcycle left a roadway and struck a concrete utility pole.
The fatal accident took place near the intersection of Hickman Drive and Ava Court in Sanford on Sunday, December 8, at around 10:32 a.m.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 2023 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Hickman Drive, just south of Ava Court, when she failed to negotiate a left curve.
As a result, the motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway and onto the shoulder before striking a concrete utility pole.
The woman, who was from Weirsdale, was transported to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
According to the FHP report, the woman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The crash remains under investigation and no additional details have been provided.
