An Ocala man who goes by the alias “Murder” is in the Marion County Jail after allegedly stalking his ex-girlfriend at her job and telling one of her co-workers he wasn’t going to stop until he “got her.”
Christopher Scott Becknell, 31, was arrested Wednesday and charged with domestic stalking. Jail records show he has more than a dozen previous arrests for offenses that include domestic battery and violating a protection order.
On June 1, an Ocala Police officer responded to the restaurant where the victim works and spoke with her and several of her co-workers. The victim was emotionally distraught and afraid of Becknell, with whom she has a child. She said Becknell had been harassing her by coming to her job on multiple occasions, according to the OPD arrest report.
One of the victim’s co-workers said Becknell came to her house around 7 a.m. looking for the victim. She said Becknell was irate to the point where she feared for the victim’s safety. The co-worker said her husband asked Becknell to leave and he complied, the report said.
The victim said Becknell arrived at the restaurant around 12:30 p.m. She said she saw Becknell approaching the front door and she tried to exit through the back door. The victim said Becknell saw her and chased her from the outside, leading a co-worker to lock the doors and prevent him from entering. The victim was able to get back inside the business before Becknell got to her, according to the report.
At around 8 p.m., Becknell came back to the restaurant looking for the victim. Co-workers were able to hide the victim and prevent him from getting inside the building. An employee said Bucknell said he wasn’t going to stop until he “got her,” the report said.
The victim informed the officer of a prior incident where Becknell punched out the back window of her vehicle while she was trying to drive away from him during an altercation. She said she feels Becknell is more than capable of causing her harm, and that she is in fear for her life and well-being, according to the report.
A warrant was issued for Becknell’s arrest and he was apprehended Wednesday. He’s being held on $2,500 bond and is due in Marion County Court on July 8.
