The Black Sheep on Broadway officially opened its doors this past weekend in downtown Ocala, replacing the Fox Den Tavern in a location that changed hands relatively quickly.
The restaurant and bar celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, October 12. After beginning construction earlier this summer, the new addition to downtown opened just a few months later.
The location has been completely renovated on the inside and out, including a new window that has been added to the front of the building that provides a seating option with a view of Broadway Street.
The menu includes a variety of finger foods and sandwiches. Appetizers include chicken wings, gator tail, nachos and fried green tomatoes, among others. The restaurant features a wide variety of sliders that can be purchased a la carte, as well as soups, salads, and sandwiches.
In addition to the savory options, a “build your own ice cream sandwich” dessert gives diners the chance to build a sandwich with a variety of bases, including donuts and waffles, and top that with ice cream and a flavored drizzle.
The restaurant joins Bank Street Patio Bar, which opened its doors this weekend in downtown Ocala, as a new option for diners on Sunday and Monday in the city. It will likely draw more visitors to the area on those days, staying open seven days a week until 2 a.m., with the exception of Sunday when it closes at 12 a.m. The Black Sheep on Broadway will open each day at 3 p.m. except on weekends when it will accommodate a lunch crowd starting at 11 a.m.
