Dozens of dogs and cats are up for adoption at Marion County Animal Services, and a select few have been calling the shelter home for far too long. 

The nonprofit organization currently has multiple animals that have been residents at the center for over six months, including many that have been there for over a year.

“Please help us spread the word about our longest residents. It’s time for them to have a loving and happy life outside of a shelter,” read a recent Facebook post by the organization.

For those interested in adopting, you must be 18 years of age or older, possess a current driver’s license or state-issued identification, and you must live in a residence that permits pets (including landlord weight requirements, etc.).

The Marion County Animal Services center is located at 5701 SE 66th Street. The nonprofit organization is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The frequently waive adoption fees and run specials through the Marion County Animal Services Facebook page.
