Matthew Marian Gwozdz, age 68, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 16th, 2022 in Ocala, FL with his loving wife of 38 years by his side, Mary Lou (Owen) Gwozdz.
Matthew was born August 30th 1954 in Adams, MA to Stella and Stanley Gwozdz. His life was earmarked by an ability to build relationships with anyone, anywhere. He could strike up deep and meaningful conversations with friends or befriend anyone in just a couple hours. Matthew’s family was always first though. Sibblings, nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended relations all found a friendly smile and an open ear with Matthew who always radiated compassion. His wife and three children were the crowning achievement in his life. He often bragged of their achievements and proclaimed how proud he was of them.
Second to his family was his church family. Matthew faithfully served Community Fellowship at Princetown in Schenectady, NY for decades, culminating in eldership. Every church member was family to him. Every act of service done for Jesus himself.
Matthew was preceded into glory by his parents and four siblings: Mark, Francis, Jane, and Ceil.
Matthew is survived by:
His wife Mary and three children: Anna Herndon (David), Chester (Trisha), and Caleb.
Seven grandchildren: Koa, Aubrey, Israel, and Trey Herndon as well as Stella, Hazel, and Owen Gwozdz.
Seven siblings: Peter (Barb), Paul (Mary Ellen), Teddy, Casey, Rosalie, Helen (Fred), and Mary.
Two memorial services are planned, one in Florida where he lived and one in New York where he lived most of his adult life.

Niechaj się nie trwoży serce wasze; wierzycie w Boga i w mię wierzycie. W domu Ojca mego wiele jest mieszkania; a jeźli nie, wżdybymci wam powiedział. Idę, abym wam zgotował miejsce; a gdy odejdę i zgotuję wam miejsce, przyjdę zasię i wezmę was do siebie, żebyście, gdziem ja jest, i wy byli. John 14:1-3
