The city of Ocala is offering $19 an hour for seasonal lifeguard positions at its aquatic facilities.
According to the Ocala Recreation and Parks Department, the position is open to anyone ages 16 and up who holds a currdent lifeguard certification and can pass the prerequisites. All candidates must be able to swim 150 yards continuously, tread water for two minutes, and then swim another 50 yards.
The starting pay for the job is $19 per hour, and returning lifeguards will start at an hourly rate of $20.
In addition, the city is offering a retention bonus of $1,000 plus reimbursement of lifeguard certification program fees.
To receive this bonus, staff must sign a contract with Human Resources, work a minimum of 24 hours each week, and miss no more than three scheduled days for the season.
