A pickleball tournament for intermediate players and mixed double enthusiasts is being held in Ocala this weekend, and there is still time to sign up.
The “Battle of the Paddles” tournament will take place on Saturday, March 9, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed place, which is located at 1821 NW 21st Avenue in Ocala.
Hosted by the City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department, the pickleball tournament will kick off with spirited pool play, ultimately setting the stage for an intense battle for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the playoffs.
The tournament will use a round robin format, with only the top four teams from pool play advancing to the single-elimination tournament. Each match will be best 2 out of 3 games, to 11 points.
Registration closes at 8 a.m. on the day of the event, though spots are limited.
