A pizza restaurant chain that has steadily grown over the last several years just announced that it will open its first location in the area in east Ocala.
Stoner’s Pizza Joint announced last week that it is working on a new location at 4901 E Silver Springs Boulevard, Suite 101, within Six Gun Plaza. The business will take over a space formerly occupied by Pronto Pizza Express, which closed its doors last year.
“We are excited to be coming to the Ocala community. We look forward to serving you soon,” reads a statement from the company.
Founded in Charleston, South Carolina in 2013 by Jim and Angie Smith, the company has since grown to 41 locations as of this month. According to its website, the company has plans to reach 100 franchises by the end of next year.
Currently, there are seven Stoner’s Pizza Joint locations across the state of Florida. All of the locations are located along Florida’s coasts, with one on the west coast (Tampa), and the other six on the east coast.
The brand leans heavily into its namesake. Appetizers are called “munchies,” salads are referred to as “quality greens,” and many of the combinations are cleverly named (“The Blazer,” “Pep-N-Rollie,” etc.).
Although the hours of operation have not yet been released, most Stoner’s locations are open 7 days a week at 11 a.m. and operate till around 10 p.m. (9 p.m. on Sundays).
An opening date for the new location has not yet been announced.
