Ocala, FL – William Dewey Chartier Jr. “Bill” died on 7/31/24 at age 81 at the Ted and Diane Brandley House in Summerfield, Florida after a week of hospice care and a year of declining health.

“Wild Bill” as he was aptly named in his younger years, was born in Taunton, MA to Frances and William Dewey Chartier Sr. in 1942. Bill was a “self-made man” who was hard-working and generous during his lifetime. Bill worked for 39 years at Lebanon Crushed Stone, Tilcon and then Pike Industries as a loader operator. He enjoyed country music, dancing at the Elks club, eating and socializing with friends. He was friendly and known to greet people wherever he went.

He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Margeret Chartier. After he met “Maggie” for the first time, he walked from Claremont to Etna, NH the very next day to see her, which is just a small example of his loyalty and dedication to the people he cared about.

He is predeceased by a son, William David Chartier, and survived by 4 children: Daniel Penn (Heidi), Deborah Cantlin (Tom), Lisa Chartier (Angela) and Eric Chartier (Vicky). He is survived by a brother Louis Chartier and predeceased by siblings Frances O’Keefe, Rose Palmer and Albert Chartier. He had multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by a late-in-life companion, Therese “Terri” Waters with whom he lived in Florida for the past several years.
