Two horse sculptures were recently removed from Ocala facilities for routine maintenance and repairs.
The horse sculptures at Scott Andrews Park (1104 SE 12th Avenue) and the Martin Luther King, Jr. First Responders Campus (615 NW MLK Jr. Avenue) were removed last week for repairs.
According to the Ocala Cultural Arts department, the sculptures have suffered from “environmental damage over time” like most forms of public art.
The organization says the sculptures require “routine maintenance to ensure that they last for years to come.”
The department says the sculptures will be reinstalled at their respective locations in a “few weeks,” once all repairs are completed.
The horse sculpture at Scott Andrews Park, “Passing Through,” was created by Celeste Stadler and displays several historically relevant sites across Ocala, including Union Station.
At the MLK campus, “Winner’s Circle of Life” was created by Esta Mann.
