The Ocala Parks and Recreation Department is hosting regular classes every Wednesday to teach the fundamentals of pickleball, a popular sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong.

Pickleball U will be held every Wednesday, starting September 4, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mary Sue Rich Community Center, which is located at 1821 NW 21st Ave. in Ocala.

Classes are free and will run through December 18.

During each event, participants will learn the finer points of pickleball from experienced players.

Participants will then step onto the court to put their newly minted skills to the test.

Equipment will be provided to participants while supplies last.
