James Leroy Herring, Sr was born to the ate Wyndrell (Buster) and Ida Mae Herring on February 15, 1946 in Silver Springs, FL. Sadly James was called home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2025 to rest.

At an early age he attended St. Mary Baptist Church in Silver Springs, FL. James attended Howard Hugh School then later in 1964 enlisted in the US military. After his honorable discharge he was employed with O.B. Brooks grassing company as a Labor Supervisor. James continued effortlessly in laying sod for 40 plus years in the grassing industry.

After retiring from the sod industry, he took on lawn service around the community helping others. James was a hard dedicated working man. James was a devoted father. He loved spending time on the phone talking to family members. His favorite past time was lottery tickets, watching the World News, Jeopardy and Wheel a Fortune, fishing and good home cook meal. James could solve just about any household or out door problem; just give him some duct tape and wire and a screwdriver. It’s done, “temporarily”. Don’t expect it to look good, but it works. Cooling Waters by The Williams Brothers was his favorite song.
