Approximately 213 horses were sold for over $3.1 million during the Ocala Breeders’ January Winter Mixed Sale, which concluded this week.

The 2025 Ocala Breeders’ Sale January Winter Mixed Sale saw the sale of approximately $3,108,700, according to a statement issued through the OBS website.

A total of 213 horses were sold, making the average sale around $14,595. The median sale was $7,500, according to OBS.

A total of 57 horses failed to meet their reserve this year. According to the organization, although last year saw a total of 251 horses sold for $3,946,800, the figures are not comparable.

“Due to the change in format from the 2024 auction, final figures are not completely comparable,” reads a statement from OBS.

Unlike in previous years, this year saw the 2-year-olds and horses of racing age being sold in an online January auction, which began earlier this month and runs through Thursday.

The leading consignor, Lisa McGreevy of Abbie Road, sold 25 horses for a total of $528,200.

During the Ocala Breeders’ June Sale last Summer, approximately 582, two-year-old horses were sold for over $21 million.

Last April, around 633 horses were sold for just over $82,000,000 during the OBS Spring Sale. Just a few weeks before in March, OBS brokered over $66 million in sales during another sale, with at least four horses breaching the $1 million sales mark.
